Club Activities

By providing a variety of activities we strive to give all our members an opportunity to participate regardless of their photographic skill level. Part of the goal of these activities is to have members assist one another by expanding their skill set.

  • Speaker Series

The Speaker Series is a monthly Zoom meeting. We have recently partnered with the Olympia Camera Club in Olympia, WA to share speakers. With the increased audience size, we have been able to attract more well-known and highly-professional presenters. Whenever possible, we coordinate our field trips and/or workshops with the speakers talks. The talks are recorded, and only members may view the recordings.

  • Member Share Night

Share Nights provide members with an opportunity to display their images and to receive feedback from other members on their work. For the March, June, and September Nights, the club solicits outside input from a PSA judge or other professional. Like regular Share Nights, members provide their feedback along with the feedback from the external judge.

  • Field Trips

Field trips are among our most popular club activities. Members lead trips to favorite spots around the peninsula and beyond, where we practice our photography skills and get to meet other members. Members are encouraged to submit their photos for inclusion in the field trip gallery.

  • Workshops

Workshops provide members with an opportunity to learn and to work with other members. Workshops are frequently conducted in conjunction with the speaker of the month and the current theme. In the past, workshop topics have included long exposures and macro refractions. We encourage members to make suggestions for workshops or to host a workshop if they have particular knowledge on a skill.

  • Technical Tuesdays

Tech Tuesday is an informal sharing of Tips and Tricks. Members prepare a presentation to club members based on their favorite subject.. Major categories include Back to Basics, Post Processing, Printing your Images, Camera Controls, or Photography Styles.

  • Competitions

For members that wish to compete in photo competitions, the club supports the PSA Interclub Competition for both color and monochrome and the Northwest Council of Camera Club Traveling Image Salon. Annually, the club conducts its WOW Competition, and the photos submitted are featured on the home page of the website. This is a fun competition, and the winners are presented at the final meeting of the year.
